Let’s be real — sushi in Japan is on another level.
And while lists are helpful, some meals are too good to summarise. So here’s a short and honest take: these are the three sushi spots I always return to when I’m back in Tokyo.
🔥 My Forever Favourites:
🍥 Sushi no Midori
📍Various locations (Ginza, Shibuya, etc.)
Some of the loveliest sushi sets I’ve had — ever. The kani miso is rich and addictive. But be warned: I once waited three hours at the Ginza outlet… at 3pm. Not even peak hours. Still worth it? Yes.

🍶 Oedo Sushi (Shinjuku)
📍Tucked near Shinjuku’s back streets
Small, cosy, and definitely local. The fish-to-rice ratio is ridiculous in the best way. Expect thick cuts and warm rice. Also, it’s cash only — no cards accepted.
🐟 Tsukiji Itadori Bekkan
📍Near Tsukiji Outer Market
One of the best counter experiences I’ve had — and yes, better than some omakase spots I’ve tried. It’s intimate (all seats are counter seats), and everything feels carefully prepared. There’s usually a queue, but it moves fast.
💡 Pro Tip: Don’t chase “cheap sushi.” Chase worthwhile sushi. These three? Solid every time.
🌟 Final Thoughts
Whether you’re visiting Tokyo for the first time or the fifth, these sushi spots always deliver. If you can wait, they’ll reward you. Every time.
